Top 4 UK Caravanning Sites

Whether you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city or just take some time to relax and unwind on holiday, you may be surprised just how close to home your next break may be. Forget the expensive plane tickets, and jetlag, because the UK boasts some of the most breath-taking and beautiful landscapes situated right on your doorstep.

Caravan holidays are a great way to explore areas that are both local and far afield in the comfort of your home away from home. From taking the whole family to a solo exploration, we cover some of the top campsite locations around the UK and why they have made it to our top four list!

Your Scotland Staycation: Bunree Caravan Club Site

Our first caravan pitch takes us to the water’s edge of the stunning Loch Linnhe campsite, Bunree Caravan Club Site. Set in the Scottish Highlands, this campsite is quite literally breath-taking with 360 degree views of the mountain range it is located within.

This campsite is a bit of an all rounder when it comes to activities. As you would expect with such a remote location, this caravan pitch is wonderfully peaceful (you can almost hear the crystal clear water lapping against the Loch Linnhe’s shoreline just thinking about it!), but if its excitement and adventure you are after, the renown Ben Nevis is just a short drive away and is sure to provide entertainment and adrenaline in equal measures! The site offers many other interesting and enjoyable opportunities, including guided mountain tours, fishing, and cycling trails.

With pitches available from £16.80 (as of 2020) we would rate this an excellent site to visit for families, couples, or even solo explorers. Particularly those who are looking to escape from busier parts of the UK and experience a holiday in a more ‘off-the-grid’ style.

Cornish Camping: Trevaylor Caravan & Camping Park

The West country is a very popular destination when it comes to caravanning holidays. The seamless transitions between luscious green fields, golden sandy beaches, and jaw-dropping cliff faces makes this part of the UK one of the most diverse areas you can visit.

The Trevaylor Caravan & Camping Park in Botallack, Penzance, is deep in the heart of Cornwall, with a surrounding of scenic coastal trails just 500m away, and points of interest such as Lands End only 5 miles from where you stay. This family run caravan and campsite has capacity for up to 60 touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.

We would recommend Trevaylor Caravan & Camping Park for enthusiasts looking for a more active caravanning experience. Cornwall offers plenty of coastal trails along with some of the most iconic surfing beaches just a few miles away from this camping pitch.

The Fairy-tale Forest: New Forest Caravan Club Centenary Site

Moving further to the south of the UK we stumble upon one of the oldest preserved woodland areas on our wonderful island, The New Forest. The New Forest is well known for the long walks through dense ancient woodland, and open moorland where you are sure to come across the most popular residents of the forest, The New Forest ponies.

The New Forest Caravan Club Centenary Site is situated at the south-western edge of the New Forest National Park, with cycle routes as nearby as 200 yards to explore the forest at your own leisurely pace. The location of the caravan site also means it is close to popular local destinations such as Christchurch, Poole, and Bournemouth- All well known for their pristine beaches and popular seaside attractions.

With pitches from as little as £11.70 (as of 2020), this campsite has a lot to offer. We feel this camping site is most suited to those looking for a more relaxed setting to enjoy their caravanning. With plenty of long walks over ever-changing countryside and small towns and villages to be appreciated and explored along the way.
